When tradition meets technology, stories are born that change industries. That is exactly the story of Simovska AI, a brand that grew out of three generations of fashion passion and transformed Balkan heritage into a digital revolution.

Under the leadership of Bora Simovska, the creative director of Simovska, the brand shows that artificial intelligence does not have to be the opposite of creativity — on the contrary, it can become its ally. Through a fusion of craftsmanship, emotion, and innovation, Simovska AI is redefining the meaning of fashion, from the way it is created to the way it is experienced.

“Our story began long before artificial intelligence — on the foundations of craftsmanship, artistry, and an inherited love for creating clothing that carries meaning. Introducing AI into our process was a natural step, a way to unite tradition and technology and to set creativity free, not limit it,” Simovska said in an interview for Women in Adria.

The brand is the proud recipient of an innovation award and a state innovation grant from the office of Prime Minister Edi Rama, confirming that a brand born in the Balkans can also help shape the future of global fashion.

“Our goal has always been to create something that does not yet exist — fashion with a soul, powered by intelligence,” she said.

How AI-driven fashion works

The creative process at Simovska AI begins with scanning the fabric — its texture, pattern, and the way it moves. This is followed by a hand-made sketch, which becomes a physical prototype, and only then does the artificial intelligence system generate endless variations of shapes, tones, and styles.

In addition, their AI tools analyze vast amounts of visual and behavioral data, helping uncover customers’ emotional responses to certain colors, materials, and silhouettes. The result is fashion design that combines aesthetics with a deep understanding of clients’ needs and desires.

“Ovaj proces drastično skraćuje vrijeme proizvodnje ono što je prije zahtijevalo sedmice sada možemo realizirati u samo jedan sat, uz veću personalizaciju i kreativnu slobodu. No, ljudska kreativnost ostaje u središtu svega. Mašina može simulirati ljepotu, ali samo ljudsko oko i intuicija mogu je prepoznati”, kaže Simovska.

“This process drastically shortens production time — what once required weeks can now be achieved in just one hour, with greater personalization and creative freedom. Yet human creativity remains at the heart of everything. A machine can simulate beauty, but only the human eye and intuition can truly recognize it,” says Simovska.

AI as a driver of sustainable and personalized fashion

According to Simovska, artificial intelligence is not only changing the appearance of fashion — it is changing the way fashion is produced, consumed, and valued. Thanks to precise data and behavioral analysis, it is possible to accurately predict what customers want, reducing the need for overproduction and excess stock.

“At Simovska AI, we are moving toward a real-time production model — each garment is made to order rather than produced in bulk. Our goal is to achieve near-zero waste and eliminate unsold inventory. For us, sustainability does not only mean using eco-friendly materials, but also creating intelligently,” she emphasizes.

Each piece is personalized according to the individual’s proportions, style, and taste, making it not only aesthetically perfect but also emotionally valuable. “We believe the future of fashion is precise, personal, and responsible — and artificial intelligence is the bridge that makes that future possible,” she said.

The challenge of trust — how people respond to AI fashion

The biggest challenge, says Simovska, was building trust.

“Many people saw AI fashion as something cold and abstract, something that exists only on screens. But when they receive the order, touch the fabric, and see the craftsmanship, their perception changes completely,” she said.

The brand’s key task is to reconcile innovation and tradition. While technology accelerates design, production still relies on skilled human hands — and those skills are becoming increasingly rare.

“We receive thousands of orders from all over the world, but finding experienced tailors and artisans is becoming a challenge. Our mission is twofold: to help people trust innovation while also protecting human artistry from disappearing. Because while an algorithm can design a dress, only human emotion can make it unforgettable,” she says.

A look into the future

The next chapter of Simovska AI is focused on creating an AI couture laboratory — a space where technology meets craftsmanship, and algorithms learn the language of emotion and proportion.

Soon, customers will be able to virtually try on clothing using only their phone camera, seeing how a piece fits their body before it becomes reality.

“It is not just about convenience, but about connection — allowing people to see themselves inside the vision before it comes to life,” says Simovska.

Production remains in Tirana, both because of its proximity to Italy and access to top-quality fabrics, and because of the symbolism of the Balkans — a region rich in creativity and craftsmanship.

Today, Simovska AI sells in 90 countries worldwide, has more than 12 million monthly visitors across social media, and brings together talent from across the Balkans.

To improve delivery and reduce customs duties, the brand is soon opening a logistics center within the European Union, making the shopping experience faster and more sustainable.

“Our vision is a global ecosystem in which sustainable production, digital innovation, and human creativity exist in perfect harmony,” she said.

A message to women at the intersection of art and technology

In closing, she encourages women not to fear innovation. She emphasizes that technology is not the enemy of art — it is simply a new medium of expression.

“Just as a paintbrush once transformed a blank canvas into art, today AI transforms thought into form. It does not replace the human spirit — it amplifies it,” Simovska concluded for Women in Adria.

Simovska believes that women have a key role in this “quiet revolution” — a time when creative power is expanding beyond the boundaries of major brands and institutions.

“The tools of creation are now available to everyone, almost at no cost — and women, in particular, have the opportunity to lead this new era with vision, sensitivity, and courage. True innovation does not come from machines — it comes from the human desire to create, connect, and leave a mark. That is what makes us eternal,” she said.
